Dan is a Director with and founder of TaxOps, LLC. Dan’s practice focuses on the tax implications of corporate and business transactions and the tax operations of business enterprises. Dan has extensive experience in running the corporate tax function for multi-national, multi-state corporations, ensuring the timely preparation of consolidated federal and multi-state income tax returns and sales/use and personal property tax returns. He has successfully negotiated significant audit issues at the federal, state and local jurisdictional level, has researched and advised on domestic and international acquisitions, has assisted with debt restructuring and has significant experience in the preparation of the required income tax reporting for financial accounting purposes. Throughout his career, Dan has identified and implemented tax strategies that have generated millions of dollars in income and transactional tax deductions and credits. In addition, Dan frequently works with emerging companies to assist with issues related to the formation of a business, stock option issues, and other start-up matters.
Dan began his career working in “Big 8″ public accounting, focusing on tax compliance, research and audit projects. After 5 years, Dan left public accounting to spend the next 10 years managing all aspects of the corporate tax department in a multi-national corporation setting. Dan rejoined Ernst & Young LLP in 1999 (making Tax Partner in 2001) where he focused on the compliance and consulting needs of corporate clients and the management of other aspects of the corporate tax department, such as the implementation of research credits and FAS 109 calculations.
Dan is a Certified Public Accountant in Colorado and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the AICPA Tax Division, and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Dan graduated from Denver University with a Masters of Taxation in 1990, and he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Indiana University in 1983.
